Dark Energy formed in February 09 when Pat (Vox/Keys) and Graham (Guitar) decided to put together a new project after the split of local favourites Raindance.

First on board was Nick (Bass/Bvox) fresh of the train from the big smoke. He had previously lent his bass stylings to a succession of indie nearly men around London's famous toilet circuit Including a support slot with Roots Manuva and one memorable gig with Amy Winehouse in attendance! Pat and Graham told Nick they admired his solid bottom end, and once the misunderstanding had been explained the hunt for a drummer was on.

An intense few weeks of auditions followed but nothing seemed to click until Ian appeared. The guys realised they might be in the presence of a big hitter when he set up a ride cymbal the size of a typical beer garden parasol and after their hearing returned and they had picked their jaws up off the floor they were astonished to discover that it was his first ever band audition. Line up cemented Dark Energy were born.

For those that are wondering, the name refers to a mysterious energy physicists believe permeates the universe, the boys just think its a cool name for a band.

Dark Energy hit the road in May and despite being only a few gigs old they have been blown away by the reaction from audiences. No doubt helped by Pat's love of getting into the crowd and onto tables at the drop of a hat.

The current set is packed with a mix of modern rock anthems by the likes of The Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stoneage and Kings of Leon along side some punk and new wave classics. The next mission for the boys is to get into the studio and write some tunes, but with new gigs coming thick and fast it's proving to be a challenge.
